Framing the Session

In previous sessions we have learned how to import video into Windows Movie Maker, edit clips, add transitions, and save the project file. With this lesson we will complete and learn how to save it in a format that will allow widespread distribution of our movie.

We will learn how to add still clips, add audio, and save the movie.

Teaching
1. Watch me as I show you how add video effects to clips.
2. Watch me as I show you how to add sound to the movie.
3. Watch me as I show you how to save the movie for distribution.

Guided Practice

Work in groups to add video effects, sound, and save your movie.

WORK TIME (Typically lasts about 60–70% of session.)
Work for the next 30 minutes to compose this aspect of your movie.

Getting Started

Participant Activity
Participants will...
Work in groups to add video effects, sound, and save a movie.

Facilitator Conferring
Circulate around the room and confer with participants. Try to guide students to limit the amount of video effects and transition effects that are used. Too many special effects may distract from the video footage.

Take note of particularly good examples of work that can be presented during the Share.

SHARE (Typically lasts about 10–20% of session.)

Share
Ask selected participants to share particularly good examples of their work.
Have students show their completed movies and discuss the process of creating a movie in Windows Movie Maker.
